Earplugs vs. Thundering Bass: Are Your Ears Truly Protected in Loud Clubs?
Low-frequency bass in clubs (below ~100 Hz) is hard to block because it can bypass earplugs by traveling through the body, but it is generally less harmful to hearing than higher frequencies. Hearing damage mainly occurs in the “speech banana” range (about 250–4,000 Hz), which is crucial for speech understanding and where quality earplugs are most effective.
