Our story
Minuendo was founded in 2018 in Oslo, Norway by a team with extensive experience from acoustics, hearing protection and product development. Our mission is to deliver category defining hearing protection products and solutions that provides real protection for the sense of hearing.
In 2025, the noise monitoring solution part of the business was rebranded and moved to Noise Smart.

2015
The research begins
Scientists at SINTEF — one of Europe's largest independent research institutions — begin developing a new approach to membrane-based hearing protection, funded by the Research Council of Norway.
2018
Minuendo is founded
Four co-founders unite in Oslo with a shared mission. After close to 100 prototypes, the world's first variable passive Hi-Fi filter is ready.
2020
Red Dot Design Award
Minuendo wins the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for Healthcare Brand and launches in Norway.
2021
Going global
Forbes names Minuendo "Best sound quality for concerts." Popular Science: "Best earplugs for musicians & work." International distribution begins.
2023
LIVE 17dB is launched
Making the famous Minuendo sound available to a wider audience - for festivals, clubbing and more.
2025
Focused on what matters
Smart Alert, the noise monitoring division, is rebranded as Noise Smart. Minuendo doubles down on its core mission — the world's most natural-sounding earplugs.
